UV-C LEDs (200 nm to 280 nm wavelength) are quickly gaining importance in sanitation devices neutralizing bacteria & viruses. To help you speed up your development of UV-C devices, we have designed prototyping starboards for several LEDs in AlN ceramic. The ceramic substrate and highly UV-reflective coating ensure that you can use the full potential of your UV LEDs.
AlN ceramics are not only the best material to cool the LED and approach the CTE coefficient of most LEDs but they will also better withstand degradation caused by UV-C radiation, thanks to the highly UV-C reflective solder mask.
Standard, we offer our AlN UV-C LED starboards with an aluminum nitride substrate with a copper metalization.
Specifications and characteristics:
- Material: Aluminum Nitride (170 W/mK) – 1mm
- Conductor: Copper (Cu – 35um / 1oz)
- Dielectric: highly UV-C reflective White solder mask
- Surface finish: electroless nickel immersion gold (ENIG) (the nickel gold layer ensures easy solderability and oxidation resistance)
- Thermal expansion (CTE): 2 ~ 3 ppm/°C
- Thermal conductivity: >170 W/mK at 20°C
- UV-reflectivity: >80%
The CERmaUVS is equipped with a highly reflective UV-C solder mask that reflects >80% in the UVC spectrum, preventing underperformance and degradation. The mask measured at 280nm a reflectivity of 85.7%, and after a 2000h irradiation test a reflectivity of 90.1%.
